Unga Group EPS Surges Sevenfold in H1 2026

Unga Group has posted a profit of KES 523.2 million for the six months ended 31 December 2025, up from KES 82.2 million in the prior year period, with earnings per share surging to KES 4.48 from KES 0.63, reflecting a sevenfold increase. Revenue grew 12% to KES 14.5 billion from KES 12.9 billion despite reduced consumer purchasing power and elevated raw material costs due to global supply constraints, while operating profit more than doubled to KES 746.8 million from KES 351.9 million. Finance costs fell 53% to KES 106.2 million from KES 225.8 million, aided by easing interest rates and improved debt management, with the company generating KES 1.23 billion in cash from operations though tax payments jumped to KES 412.4 million from KES 15.7 million. The turnaround follows prior year losses that eroded working capital, with management warning that unfavorable weather conditions in the next six months pose a threat to key raw material supplies and could negatively affect business performance despite generally supportive macroeconomic conditions including stable foreign exchange rates.
